Legal Information For Your Outer Banks Wedding

A marriage ceremony can not take place unless a valid marriage license had been issued.  Persons can not apply for the license after the ceremony.

There must be two witnesses at your marriage ceremony, whether it is civil or religious.

You may obtain your license from any Register of Deeds in North Carolina. The below links are the two counties that encompass my service area.

Other Useful Information:

Beach Permits
Southern Shores doesn't require a permit for the use of the beach but they request that guests not park on property belonging to local residents.

Nags Head doesn't require a town permit for wedding ceremonies on the beach. But please keep in mind that structures on the beach such as tents, chairs, etc. are not allowed in order to maintain clear access by beach patrol lifeguards.
